Metallised Paper
Metallised Paper is produced by evaporation of aluminium onto a continuously moving web of paper. The process is carried out under vacum which provides the optimum conditions for vaporising the metal and minimizes gases and water vapor which are detrimental to high quality metallisation. The process is termed semicontinuous in which, each complete cycle comprises continuous metallisation of the reel with interruption for loading and preparation.
A thin continuos layer of aluminium is deposited on the material under process, to impart the required finish. The material is coated with top lacquer which has properties like scratch-resistance, print-receptivity and other functional applications. This Metallised Paper replaces conventional paper / Aluminium foil laminate in many cases, specifically in cigarette packaging, beer labels and other flexible packaging. Besides lower cost, the Metallised Paper has better machinablity, improved printablity when compared to equivalent laminate.

Coated Paper
The manufacturing of coated paper involves coating of base paper with China clay and binders so as to give print receptivity and gloss/brightness to the paper. A Coating slury is prepared in the colour kitchen which is applied to a continuously moving base paper on the coating machine. A Super Calendar Machine is then used to give the required gloss to the paper. Sheeting/Slitting is done according to the requirement.
Such coated paper is used where the sharpness of graphical design, photograph or a picture is vital in printing. A good coated paper improves the value of paper in terms of' better runnability, appearance & better printability. The runnability includes strength properties as well as moisture behaviour of the paper. Printability includes properties like smoothness, porosity, absorbency and ink receptivity. Coated paper attempts to provide these qualities for tile printers.
